In
The Devil’s Bed
From
a distance, the devil’s bed looks inviting,
comfortable.
Like the best bed you’ve ever
seen,
ever been made. But when you step closer,
you
see the picture changes.
The
brass headboard isn’t really brass. For it’s brilliance comes off upon touch.
The pillows are full cause they’re filled with rocks that spark and grind.
The
comforter filled with worms and spiders, the sheets beautifully lined in
patterns of lice and bedbugs. Amid your horrified glance comes the phrase
“You’ve made your bed, now lie in it.” And you do, because you and your deeds
made it.
